K-3 Class Size Reduction Projects

The district received a $51.1 million K-3 Class Size Reduction Grant from the Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI) in the spring of 2016.

The grant provides funds to assist districts with adding new K-3 classrooms. The funds may be used for permanent and modular buildings but may not be used for portables. The district qualified for the grant based on a number of weighted factors, including the number of needed classrooms, the current student-teacher ratio, the percent of students who qualify for free and reduced-price meals, and when the district most recently passed a bond.

NEW Amon Creek Elementary

Amon Creek Elementary is one of the projects initially funded under the voter-approved 2015 bond. The Kennewick School Board approved the expansion of that school’s original 26-classroom design with grant dollars. View more details on the project page.
