Frequently Asked Questions

These are some questions to aid you in your quest through H3MS.

How long do we have between classes?

You are allowed four minutes between classes to stop at lockers, use the restroom, or anything else you may need before your next class. You must be in your seat before the tardy bell rings. This is not a social time; it is time to do what you need to.

How many classes do we have?

There are seven periods per school day and a lunchtime. There is also eighth hour for extra studying. Click here for a bell schedule.

How long are classes?

Classes are 47 to 48 minutes a period with a half hour for lunch. Click here for a bell schedule.

Will I see older kids between classes?

No. Each grade is divided into individual hallways. You may see older students from time to time, but they will most likely be helpers and will not bother you. Some gym classes are inter mixed grades, but they have different teachers than you do.

Does each grade eat at the same time?

No. Each grade has a different lunch hour. As sixth graders, you will eat first after third period. Click here for further details.

Do we have a recess?

There is no set period or time frame for recess, but during lunch, if you finish early, you are permitted to go outside.

Is this a closed campus?

Yes, once you are in Horse Heaven, you may not leave until the end of school at 2:18 (Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays) or 1:13 (on Wednesdays). You may, however, leave campus with a parent, if you sign out.

What are exploratory classes?

Exploratory classes are classes designed for a little fun. Exploratory teachers teach fields in which they specialize to broaden the horizons of young minds. Examples of exploratory classes are art, poetry and computers. You will not have exploratory if you are in band or orchestra. What sports are offered at H3MS?

There are four seasons for sports: Fall, Winter One, Winter Two, and Spring. Fall sports include football, volleyball, cross country, and soccer; Winter One is boys basketball, and dance; Winter Two involve wrestling, and girls basketball; and Spring consists of track and field, softball, and baseball. NOTE: 6th graders are not permitted to participate in sports, until seventh grade. However, there are intramural activities offered occasionally before school hours. This last year we had basketball and indoor soccer.
