A New Chapter For Westgate Elementary

Community members and alumni of Westgate Elementary celebrated the return of the school's students and staff to their new building on Aug. 25 at the school's ribbon cutting ceremony.

The new building begins a new chapter for a school that has served the community for more than 60 years. Students and staff spent two years at the Fruitland building while their new home was built. The new school is one several projects paid for by a bond approved by voters in February 2015.

After the ribbon cutting and remarks from officials, families and community members toured the 60,000 square foot building. It has 30 classrooms, a gym, cafeteria, library and improved playground and other spaces.
