Celebrating Our Seniors: Mason Martin
An eye for detail has paid off for Mason Martin, a Southridge High School senior. He recently won local and regional drafting competitions sponsored by the National Association of Women in Construction's (NAWIC) U.S.A. Education Foundation.
The competition introduces students to the construction industry, with entries judged by professionals in the field. Mason's renderings for a dental office project took months to complete and incorporate every aspect of construction, from external views of the finished building to schematics for plumbing and electrical wiring.
Mason's top finishes have already earned him $750 in prizes. His drawings will now be considered for the national-level contest. He's headed to Gonzaga University to play baseball and may study architecture or a related field with an eye to working in the construction industry.
