Clearwater Creek site purchased for future elementary school

Kennewick School District has purchased 13.64 acres in the Clearwater Creek development from Hayden Homes for a future elementary school.

District administration has been in negotiations with Hayden Homes since last year regarding the property. The location was also identified in the February 2015 school bond information as a possible future site of an elementary school because Hayden Homes plans to build more than 300 houses in the Clearwater Creek development.

The total purchase price of the property is $654,720. The district traded 10.04 acres of property valued at $552,000 from a 43.26 acre site it owns adjacent to Southridge Boulevard and will pay Hayden Homes an additional $102,720.

The Clearwater Creek development is located within the Kennewick School District boundary and within the city limits of Richland.

It has not been decided whether the site will be the location of the district’s sixteenth elementary school that voters approved in February. The district also owns future elementary school sites off of W. 10th Avenue near Hansen Park and off of East Reata Road.
