UPDATED: Enrollment continues to grow

Kennewick schools have 506 additional students to start the school year than they did at the same time last fall.

The district counted 17,954 students on the seventh day of the 2016-17 school year, compared to 17,505 at the same point in the 2015-16 school year.

“We are continuing to see an increase in enrollment growth, especially at the elementary schools in grades kindergarten through fifth,” stated Superintendent Dave Bond.

The increase breaks down to 255 additional students in the elementary schools, 143 new students in the middle schools and 108 additional high school students.
