Kennewick schools break records in United Way fundraising campaign

Kennewick School District staff participated at their highest rate and contributed more money than ever before in the district’s annual fundraising campaign for the United Way of Benton & Franklin Counties.

Together, the district raised $43,369 for the United Way. Staff at every school and district building contributed to the effort, with several schools seeing much higher participation than in prior years.

United Way funds a variety of programs that directly benefit Kennewick students. Those include the Attendance Matters initiative, aimed at fighting school absenteeism, and the Lunch Buddies program at Vista Elementary School, which pairs students with adult mentors. Many other education- and health-related efforts in our communities also are supported by the United Way.
