Mid-Columbia Partnership's (MCP's) middle school Destination Imagination team, The Jive Bombers, tied for 13th place in the world at the global competition this past week at the University of Tennessee.

More than 8,000 students from 17 different countries competed in five different categories.

The students faced a challenge called “Creature Feature” which specified that they include these elements:
  • Build a creature that uses technical methods to perform team-chosen actions.
  • Present a story of adventure with the creature as a character.
  • Use technical methods to demonstrate features of a world where the story is set.
  • Create and present two Team Choice Elements that show off the team’s interests, skills, areas of strength, and talents.
The Jive Bombers team members include: Evan Adair, Dessie Coleman, Cayden Perdue, Kaden Selman, Madeline Teigen, and Team Manager Michelle Teigen.

The students also participated in different fun educational events while at the competition, including:
  • Spending time with their “buddy” team from Monterrey, Mexico.
  • Meeting a Disney animator who taught the children character drawing.
  • Seeing and testing out the latest technology and gadgets at the Innovation Expo.
  • Listening to Dr. Buzz Aldrin shared amazing stories of his Apollo 11 moon landing and his space walk on Gemini 12.
  • Experience the NASA Journey to Mars exhibit which allowed them to see firsthand the work that goes along with NASA’s research in space.
  • Attend a Duct Tape Costume Ball

Congratulations to the MCP Jive Bombers.
