MCP Destination Imagination team wins state title

A team of middle schoolers from Mid-Columbia Partnership, who call themselves the "Jive Bombers," won the state title last week in Wenatchee and are headed to the global competition in Knoxville, Tennessee in May.

Team members include: Evan Adair, Cayden Perdue, Dessie Coleman, Madeline Teigen, Kaden Selman, and Michelle Teigen (team manager).

The team’s challenge at the state competition was to create a “Creature Feature” which included the following points:

  • Build a creature that uses technical methods to perform team-chosen actions.
  • Present a story of adventure with the creature as a character.
  • Use technical methods to demonstrate features of a world where the story is set.
  • Create and present two Team Choice Elements that show off the team’s interests, skills, areas of strength, and talents.

Two other teams from Mid-Columbia Partnership placed third at the competition.

“We are very proud of all our students, teacher Tammy Darling and all the team managers,” stated Principal Carrie DeForest.

Mid-Columbia Partnership is a home school program in the Kennewick School District.
