Salmon Summit takes the lesson to the river
Hundreds of Kennewick School District elementary students participated in the Benton Conservation District's Salmon Summit this week.
Through the “Salmon in the Classroom” program, students raise fish at school, release their fish into the Columbia River and enjoy a day of outdoor learning. Students attend field stations to learn about wise use of water, fish tagging and transport, hydropower generation, agriculture, salmon recovery efforts, local culture, and natural resources.
This program would not be possible without partner organizations that include federal, tribal, state, county and municipal agencies, corporate sponsors, and non-profit organizations. Thank you to the many volunteers who devote hundreds of hours to Salmon Summit.
