Celebrating Our Seniors: Paityn Goodwin

Senior Paityn Goodwin is graduating a little ahead of schedule at the age of 16.

She began taking eighth-grade honors classes early in the seventh grade at Park Middle School. That led to her becoming a freshman at Kennewick High School the year after that, where she continued to burn through her coursework. She has earned the Seal of Biliteracy in French and her International Baccalaureate (IB) diploma along with her high school diploma.

It was in Kennewick High's IB program that Paityn said she found the academic challenge she'd long searched for and that could prepare her to reach her goals after graduation.

"They really pushed us and supported us," she says. "I didn't want to stop at just good enough."

Paityn will attend WSU Tri-Cities for the next year or two to knock out prerequisite college work before heading to Washington State University's Pullman campus. She plans to study pre-veterinary medicine and business.

"I'm ready for the next challenge," she says.
