Celebrating Our Seniors: Shaylee Sullivan

To say senior Shaylee Sullivan is driven is an understatement.

She joined student government at Kamiakin High School as a freshman after friends said she should run for office. She has since served as a class treasurer and president and in her second stint as class treasurer.

Soccer and swim team are among the sports she's played as a Brave on top of gymnastics, dance, basketball and cheer outside of school. Oh, and she played for the state girl's soccer team. Competitiveness comes naturally, she says.

Shaylee joined the dental assisting program at Tri-Tech Skills Center after learning about a friend's dad's job as a dentist. She's since fallen in love with dentistry and also the friends she's made at Tri-Tech where she also serves as a student leader.

She hasn't settled on her post-graduation plans. She's already registered as a dental assistant and may continue studying at Columbia Basin College. She's also considering joining the military. Whatever path she takes, Shaylee says she'll challenge herself as she has throughout high school.

"You can't be shy," she says. "You have to explore your options."
