#iamksd: Meet Eastgate Elementary's Brittany Gilson
Brittany Gilson joined the district this school year as the new principal of Eastgate Elementary School. She is a Tri-City native, a graduate of Hanford High School and holds several degrees from Brigham Young University. She served as a teacher, assistant principal and elementary school principal in Salt Lake City’s Granite School District before returning to the Mid-Columbia.
Why did you choose to work for the Kennewick School District?
I grew up in the Tri-Cities and wanted to move home, so when I saw the opening in KSD, I jumped at the opportunity to apply. I couldn’t be more thrilled with the interactions I continue to have with everyone in the district. It is a positive place to work and I am grateful for the opportunity to be part of such a great team.
What's your favorite part of your job?
My favorite part of my job is interacting with students. I am currently working on my goal of learning all 560 plus names of the students in my building. I want them to know that I am in their corner and want them to be successful in their academics as well as their everyday lives.
What do you like to do outside of work?
Outside of work I love to spend time with my family. I have six nieces and nephews that I adore. I also love movies, bowling, going for walks, playing pickleball and shopping.
