Community message promotes safety, respect and positive communication

Families and Community Members,

Some recent demonstrations near our schools have drawn attention, and we wish to address the subject with our families and community due to the potentially harmful impact on the positive learning environment we strive to maintain for our students.

First and foremost, we want you to know that we care about all of our students, and we want each and every one of them to feel safe at and around our schools.

We do not condone attacks, harassment or accusations targeted towards our students or their beliefs. It’s extremely important to us that students feel that their school is a welcoming and safe place.  When they are at their school, we want our students to focus on what matters most, their education.

As an organization focused on preparing students for success in post-secondary education, work and life, we also encourage the open, civil expression of ideas, beliefs and conversations to increase everyone’s understanding of different points of view.

If members of the community choose to demonstrate or hand out flyers near our schools, we encourage them to do so with a positive message. We want our schools and surrounding neighborhoods to be places where everyone in our community feels safe, welcome, and respected.
