Three Kennewick schools win state’s highest honor

Vista Elementary, Kamiakin High School and Southgate Elementary will be hanging a very special banner at their school with pride because they are all 2013 Washington Achievement Award Winners based on the progress they are making in specific areas of student growth.

Washington Achievement Award winners are selected using the Washington Achievement Index and criteria in the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) flexibility waiver. The award is given in six categories: Overall Excellence, High Progress, Reading Growth, Math Growth, 5-year graduation rate and English Language Acquisition.

2013 Award winners:
Vista Elementary – High Progress
Kamiakin High School – High Progress
Southgate Elementary – Special Recognition in Reading Growth
