Check Out Our State Recognized Schools!

Three of our schools are being honored by the state for their success in narrowing or closing gaps and helping students make gains!

Horse Heaven Hills Middle School, Canyon View Elementary School and Ridge View Elementary School are officially State Recognized Schools.

They're among only 216 schools in the state to earn the honor.

It's part of a new recognition system developed over the past year by the Washington State Board of Education, the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction and the Educational Opportunity Gap Oversight and Accountability Committee.

"Recognized schools are in the top 20 percent on multiple measures, and are closing achievement gaps or have all student groups achieving at a high level. Every school which earned a State Recognized School distinction this year should be very proud of their students and their staff," said Kevin Laverty, chair of the State Board of Education.

Horse Heaven Hills and Canyon View both are being recognized for "closing gaps and demonstrating improvement among student groups identified for support," while Ridge View earned the recognition for "growth in the WSIF (Washington School Improvement Framework) metrics while narrowing the gap between the highest and lowest performing student groups."
