Longtime Ridge View principal to lead district assessment and professional development

Lori Butler will be the next Director of Assessment and Professional Development for the Kennewick School District.

"This is an exciting opportunity for me and I look forward to working with our teachers and principals by providing professional learning opportunities they need to achieve excellence in the classroom,” Mrs. Butler says.

Mrs. Butler has served as the principal of Ridge View Elementary since 2004 and has 33 years of experience in education. She has also worked as an elementary principal and director of teaching and learning in the Columbia School District and a teacher in the Kennewick and Richland school districts.

She was named the Kennewick School District Administrator of the Year in 2010 and received the Elementary School Principals’’ Association of Washington Distinguished Principal Award in 2008. Under her leadership, Ridge View Elementary received multiple OSPI Washington Achievement Awards.

Mrs. Butler holds a bachelors of arts in elementary education from Washington State University, a master’s in education from Eastern Washington University and administrative principal credentials from Heritage College.

She replaces Bev Henderson who retires this year.
