School retirees association awards $1,800 in grants to educators

Those working in Kennewick schools always care for students, even in retirement. Members of the Benton/Franklin School Retirees Association recently demonstrated their dedication to education by providing $1,800 in mini-grants to Kennewick School District staff this year.

The grants are aimed at helping teachers with special projects or needs in their classrooms.

Nine grants of $200 each went to the following teachers:
  • Mat Adelmund, Tri-Tech Skills Center – financial assistance for travel to computer coding event
  • Danielle Belliston, Franklin-Benton Juvenile Justice Center – classroom library
  • Stephanie Brooks, Lincoln Elementary – flexible seating to help student concentration
  • Wanda Cadwallader, Legacy High School – Exploration in Programming materials
  • Michelle Johnson, Legacy High School – holiday cards for senior citizens project
  • Ron Pasma, Desert Hills Middle School – reeds for band instruments
  • Janice Sola, Benton-Franklin Juvenile Justice Center – classroom library
  • Antonio Vegas, Benton-Franklin Juvenile Justice Center – GED testing fees
  • Dan White, Kennewick High School – horse shoe metal art project
