I’m not your mother’s librarian!

My name is Amy Cook and I LOVE being the Library Teacher at Canyon View!  In my youth (last week) I was a graduate of Eastern Washington University with a Recreation Major.  I worked at Tri-City Court Club and Columbia Basin Racquet Club and I loved it!  After I became a mom (my favorite job!), I earned my Masters in Teaching through Washington State University (Go Cougs!)   I then went to Central Washington University for my Library Endorsement and … here I am!

My favorite part of my job, beside the kids (which I love!) is helping them find that book that just fires up the reading embers!  It gives me goose bumps when kids get excited about a book!  We also try to research different things - one year it was the ocean, then ancient Egypt and Medieval Europe.  Something new is always going on!

Another way kids get revved up about reading is the 4th and 5th grade “Battle of the Books” (BOB)…It has the excitement of a football game – but in the library!  Join us in the spring for that!

Other things you will find in the library – besides books (which I love!) are critter, library/zoologist helpers, Mrs. Bentrup (who loves the critters!), the Accelerated Reader program and hopefully a warm feeling of welcome!

Feel free to contact me at  amy.cook@ksd.org  if you have any questions!  Read On!
