Homework
Folder Nightly Check
I would like to take a moment to explain how
to use your child’s homework folder. His/her
folder should be taken home each day so that
you can look in it to see work that has been
finished during class time and work that needs
to be finished before class the following day.
The right side of the folder is labeled “complete
work”. I would like you to look over this
work to make sure your child has done a quality
job before turning it in the following day.
It is a good idea to look over the math assignment
by referring to the day’s assignment in
the math book. (This often catches silly mistakes
and encourages students to do a neat, thorough
job on their work the first time.)
The left side of the folder is labeled “incomplete
work”. This work should be finished before
class the next day. You may refer to your child’s
assignment sheet to see what was assigned for
the day in each subject. Then by looking at
the homework folder sections “complete
work” and “incomplete work”,
you can determine if your child has completed
all of his/her assignments that are due the
following day. This is an excellent way for
you and your child to keep track of incomplete
and missing assignments.
I believe that if you
get in the habit of checking this homework folder
on a nightly basis, your child will be held
accountable for getting assignments done each
day. He/she will also be prepared for 4th grade
which requires assignment books to be signed
daily.
