Welcome to the DHMS Band website! This is an information portal for all your band needs. It will have a schedule of all the band dates, as well as information for the students of each class. We hope you enjoy it.

About Band:

Books:

Students will need the following books in band:

6th Grade	Music:Essential Elements 2000 Book One Theroy:Standard of Excellence Theroy Book One
7th Grade	Music:Essential Elements 2000 Book Two
8th Grade	Music:Essential Techniques Book Three

Class:

In band, we teach skills that are unique, a small slice of the population knows music. Students are permitted to learn many instruments, but may have to start out on an easier one and then move up to the harder instrument the next grade level. Some examples are the Bassoon, for a player must start on a clarinet, and oboe, which players must, also, start on the clarinet. Students will learn various techniques, and then be able to play different types of music. As they reach higher levels in the band, they will play more and more sheet music and less and less in the book. Band is a very fun class, and it is a great way to learn music, and get scholarships later in life.

Concert Grade
The concert makes up a large chunk of your grade. Missing it will almost always cause you to fail. If you were sick that day, then you are excused, or if your parents have discussed with Mr.Pasma why you will be missing it ahead of time, then you are excused, otherwise, you will not be excused.
