Design A Web Site


Learner Outcomes:
Student will be able to design and publish a Web page using technology resources that demonstrate and communicate curriculum concepts to audiences inside and outside the classroom.

 

Prompt:  Using the information, graphics and references from the previous project, Giants of the Century presentation or new option Travel City Vacation, design an informational Web site for a worldwide audience.

Form:  Web site                                Audience:  readers worldwide 

Topic: Famous person or City        Purpose: Information source for readers

 

Criteria:  Your site must include a Home Page with the filename index_your first name last initial.html (i.e. index_sallyb.html).  All filenames of other Web pages MUST be written in lower case letters (ie. history.html).  You need to include:

1.      A title of the site (using correct grammar)

2.      A navigation area with links to other pages

3.      A minimum of 3 pages (Home Page and 2 other pages you created linking back to your Home Page).  Must include 6 links minimum.

4.      A link back to the H3MS Web page.

5.      A minimum of 6 graphics.

6.      The date the page was last updated.

7.      The author (your first name and last initial only) i.e. This page was designed by Sally L.

8.      An email address for contacts (make it fake like sally@dodgeit.com)

9.      Choose an attractive background (simple is best).  The text is easily read in a universal font.

10. No pages with ALL CAPS on a Web site.  (This is not easy or pleasant to read).

11. Citation in proper format of all references and photographs.

 

üAs with all assignments, correct spelling and grammar is expected.  Please reference all information and graphics in the proper format.

 

CHOICE A:  Giants of the Century

In Macromedia Dreamweaver, CREATE NEW FOLDER called giant_first name last initial  (i.e. giant_greenb) in which all Web pages and the gr folder of your site will be saved.  Using the information previously gathered, arrange a small Web site in a logical format.  Use the graphic organizer provided to plan your site before creating a single page. The index (Home Page) should include links to the other pages about the individual you are portraying. Your site should include a Home page with introduction, information about their life (dates, education, family, timeline), accomplishments, and the historical events that influenced their work.

Your site should include a Home Page with introduction, basic facts, geography, weather, getting around, history and culture, what to do, what to see, dining, media, what’s hot, recreation, activities and events/festivals

The School's Web Page
Your Web site may be uploaded to the school's site only if you meet the following requirements:

1.      Your whole site  (pages and images) is in a folder named:  'study'

2.      The site must be of a non-personal nature. Do not mention your full name (i.e.  This site was designed by Susan A.)

3.      You include proper citations for all references and photographs taken from the Internet.

4.      All the links work.

5.      All graphics show up properly.

6.      The date the site was last updated is included.

7.      Includes a link back to the H3MS Home Page.

8.      Your first page (Home Page) has the filename  index_first name last initial.html  (i.e. index_abc)

9.      Correct spelling and grammar.  Remember the whole world will be able to read this!

10. The site is pleasant to view and is a good representation of the project guidelines.
