Class Guidelines

The plan is to have a great year together. By working together everyone can achieve success, learn, and become more mature in a pleasant class atmosphere. A good attitude will help make learning easier for all. Remember, you are here to WORK and LEARN. The following guidelines will help you achieve success.

Class Rules

  1. Be in your seat WHEN the first bell begins to ring. Not being in seat prepared to go will constitute a tardy. Check the front board for class assignments for the day.
  2. Have materials (textbook, assignments, pens, pencils, paper, calculators, etc...) with you and ready to use.
  3. Listen when teacher is talking (or to others who are addressing the class – i.e. guest speakers, classmates, etc.).
  4. Upon entering classroom find your seat and prepare for class. You will not be able to return to the hall without permission.
  5. Work cooperatively and quietly in class/groups.
  6. Raise your hand and wait until you are called on before speaking.
  7. Work from bell to bell – leave class when dismissed by the teacher.

Consequences for Unwanted Behaviors

We will be using modified baseball rules in class. Individual and class strikes will be applied when needed.

Discipline Steps!

  1. After class conference
  2. Detention before or after school
  3. same as #2 – along with a phone call home
  4. same as #3 – along with a teacher/parent/student conference
  5. Three day ISS during class period.
  6. Five day ISS during class period.
  7. Case by case basis – principle involvement.

Grading

The following scale will be used
A 94% + = 4.0 B+88-89% = 3.3 C+78-79% = 2.3 D+68-69% = 1.3
A- 90-93% = 3.7 B 84-87% = 3.0 C 74-77% = 2.0 D 60-67% = 1.0
B- 80-83% = 2.7 C- 70-73% = 1.7 F 00-59% = 0.0

Due Dates

Late assignments will not be accepted. If you are absent when an assignment is due, it is due when you return unless otherwise stated. It is the responsibility of the student to turn in work when absent.

Make-Up Work

The student is responsible for obtaining assignments upon returning to school after an absence. A homework notebook located in the classroom will have assignments listed for each day. You are responsible for checking the notebook when returning to class and obtain the class work missed. You are allowed one day per excused absence to make up the class assignment.

Homework

You will have homework. Students having questions on all homework will be given time to ask before due date.

Tests/Quizzes

All units will have quizzes and tests. Personal notes can be used during all quizzes. Notes will not be allowed during tests. If you are absent on a test day, it must be taken within 3 days before or after school after you return otherwise it will be a zero grade.
