| Introduction
UltraKey
is a keyboarding program designed to increase your typing
speed. There are several way to type but the two most
common are: "Hunt and Peck", and "Touch
Typing".
If
you will only need to type a few words at a time in
your life, Hunt and Peck works fine. If you need to
do a lot more typing, Touch Typing is hands down
the best way to go.

What To
Do
(All of the following are found under
the Main Menu Button)
- Practice
UltraKey for 5-10 minutes every day as an entry task.
You are not to start other activities until this is
done or you are instructed by the teacher.
- Practice
the Lessons beginning with Lesson One.
- When you
have completed the Lesson, select a Challenge
- Take a
one paragraph challenge for the lesson you just completed.
If you do not qualify, practice it again.
- If you
qualify on one paragraph select two, three, and then
finally the full entry.
- When you
have qualified on one full entry you may go on to
the next lesson. Do this for all lessons.
- When most
of the class has finished a lesson the instructor
will give you a timed test.
- If you
fully qualify on Level 3 you can set your own Level.
Change your words per minute five more than the previous,
accuracy to 98, and practice=heavy.
- You should
continue to challenge yourself. Don't stop just because
you can type 35 words per minute.
- You may
"challenge" UltraKey as your entry task.
You can stop practicing UltraKey when you qualify
60 words a minute on a 5 minute timed challenge of
your instructor's choice.
|
| It is estimated that the maximum a Hunt and
Peck typist can type is 60 words per minute (as
in a world record). Most people type 20-30 words
per minute.
The world record for touch typing is several
hundred words per minute. |
