Spring is finally here and there is a lot going on at Highlands Middle School. Hopefully your student has signed up for a spring sport or activity. Boy’s baseball, girl’s softball, and boy’s and girl’s track will start Monday, March 3^rd.

I want to thank the community for their support for Kennewick Schools with our recent Levy. Thank you for helping our district continue to be one of the top performing school districts in this State.

Highlands Middle School PTO has put together a Beautification Committee to help make HMS a place where we can all feel proud of. Please join in this mission and participate in the committee or give us your service/expertise on this project. The Beautification Committee will have their next meeting on Tuesday, March 4^th in the library at 5:00 PM.

We’re starting our 6^th enhancement rotation and are pleased with all of the various activities going on in these classes. Students are getting extra help in math and reading as well as getting to participate in project based units during each rotation. We need your help to encourage your student to read daily for at least 20 minutes and fill in their reading logs. As WASL approaches, we will be talking to your students about doing their best on this test so that they can truly see where they are at academically in school.

Our annual board presentation is coming up on the 5^th of March at 5:30 in the library. We encourage parents to attend and show your support for our school at this meeting. We will be talking about our school’s data and the ramifications it has on our building and our practices. I look forward to seeing you there.
