Tech Prep

What is Tech Prep?

Tech Prep is a state-wide dual credit program that provides students with an opportunity to earn college credit while attending their high school course. Last year 440 Tri-Cities high school students earned a total of 3,430 course credits through CBC.

Currently there are 22 Tech Prep consortia in Washington State.  All of them provide the Dual-Credit program.  You are invited to click on the following links to learn more about the Columbia Basin Consortium and other Tech Prep related resources:

How does it work?

Students who are enrolled in an approved high school Career and Technical Education class must achieve an 85% or better class grade for each semester enrolled.  During the registration window students must register online (http://www.techprepwa.org/wa/cbc) and mail a printed copy of the completed and signed registration form along with the $20.00 fee to Columbia Basin College.

Students who meet the grade requirements, register and pay the registration fee will receive the college credit for the appropriate course. Students may access the list of courses and credit options at the Columbia Basin Tech Prep Consortium link above.  Just click on Course Equivalency list for the high school you attend.
