Adding Sounds to the Timeline
No changes.
QUESTION: Why do you think it is important to create a layer in which to drop the sound?
ANSWER: It is very difficult to find the sound unless it’s on its own layer.
Modifying Sound Properties
QUESTION: Streaming sounds are to graphic symbols as Event sounds are to __________.
ANSWER: Movieclips
STEP 4: Set the “Repeat” to “0”, not “Loop”. A sound can now be set to repeat and given number of times, or to “Loop” infinitely (A change from MX to Studio 8).
STEP 6: Don’t forget, it’s set to “Repeat”, not “Loop”.
Adding Sounds to a Button
STEP 3: The Common Library in Studio 8 does not come with a library of sounds. I have added a link to an .mp3 file in the Starting Files above . R-click the link>Save Target As>save to your zoomx folder.
STEP 5-6: I had the same results with “Event”. Regardless, select “Start” to avoid problems later.

Importing Video
Important! Watch Flashman's Video Tute first
STEP 1: Since Deepfreeze has trashed>demolished>deleted your FlashTFS template, Open the file you saved as a template in Lesson 5.
STEP 4: Choose File>Import>Import to Stage> Next. Then select “Embed in SWF and play in timeline”>Next>Next>. Note: If you select the “Edit the video first” radio button, you can more precisely select which portion of the video should be imported. You can also Split the video into several parts.

STEP 5: The Video Setting panel is significantly different from MX to Studio. At first glance it looks as if you have far fewer choices for import with Studio 8. Actually it is just simpler, however, you can select the Advanced Settings button and edit many of the things suggested in this step for MX. Notice you can actually trim the video’s timeline in the right hand window.

Figure 2: Encoding
For this step, select “Flash 8 Medium Quality” for Encoding. You will see a summary of the settings directly below the Encoding drop down menu.
STEP 6: This setting was taken care of three panels before this. Click Back>Back and you will find it in the second check box of the Embed panel.
