Mr. Johnson

School Counselor

I’ve been the counselor at Cascade since 1992. Before that I taught in the classroom in Connell for 14 years. I have bachelor’s degrees from the University of Puget Sound and a master’s degree from Washington State University. My wife, Lisa, is also a teacher and we have two grown children.

I believe that we all have difficulties that we deal with from time to time and that the best solution to life’s problems lies within the person who owns the problem. Children are resilient and every child is capable of doing wonderful things. I strive to help every child do his/her personal best. Educating children takes a team effort between students parents and teachers. We are all working toward the same thing, happy, healthy responsible, well-mannered students ready to face life’s challenges. Raising kids is like coaching. First you show the child how to do it by modeling what you want them to do, then you have them practice with you and ultimately they are ready to do it on their own. And when they give it their best try we celebrate their success. I do group and individual counseling as well as classroom lessons. Stop in and introduce yourself if you can find me in my office.
