Lincoln Elementary School is a recipient of the 2010 Washington Achievement Award and is being recognized for: Overall Excellence - Elementary. The Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction and the State Board of Education created the Washington Achievement Award to celebrate our top-performing schools and to recognize achievement in multiple categories. This highly selective award is based on your school’s performance according to the Washington Achievement Index, a comprehensive measurement of how schools in Washington are performing over time. The Washington Achievement Award is given to elementary, middle, high and comprehensive schools in seven different categories: overall excellence, language arts, math, science, extended graduation rate (high and comprehensive schools only), improvement and closing achievement gaps. |

4th Grade Team Wins Regional Battle of the Books | |

Five students from Mrs. Earley’s 4th-grade class won top honors at the 2010 Battle of the Books competition held in Pasco in February, where they competed against eight other area schools in a knowledge-bowl type of competition based on 20 Washington Children’s Choice Nominated books.

Lincoln Elementary Principal, Doug Campbell has been recognized as “2010 Distinguished Principal” by a group of his peers. Elementary school principals in the Lake Wallula region selected Campbell as one of 18 Regional Distinguished Principals.Says Bruce Cannard, Edison Elementary Principal and Regional Director of the Lake Wallula Elementary School principals Association of Washington, “Mr. Campbell is a man who puts the needs of students first and works for the success of all. He is a compassionate communicator who has created a strong sense of team in the Lincoln school community.”
Recently Lincoln Elementary was honored by Phi Delta Kappa as a recipient of one of the 2009 Great Schools Awards. This distinction is due to Lincoln’s position in the top five percent of improving schools in reading and math. Campbell will be considered for the state’s Distinguished Principal Award. The winner of the state award will serve as the nominee for National Distinguished Principals Program, sponsored by the U.S. Department of Education and the National Association of Elementary School Principals (NAESP). He will be formally honored at Elementary School Principals conference next fall.
