 Helping Hands Committee

(Helping Hands is MCP's Parent Committee)

Welcome to MCP!

On behalf of the staff and Helping Hands we want to welcome you to/back for another year at MCP!

MCP is a wonderful way to enrich your child’s homeschool learning experience. With many on-site class options, off-site classes, field trips, and a full library at your disposal, you are able to decide how best to broaden your child’s horizons! Plus, there is the added benefit of the support of other homeschooling parents.

Because MCP is a homeschool partnership program, there is a family-friendly atmosphere. We encourage visits to the classroom, whether it is to help out, or simply to watch your child interact with other students and teachers. Feel free to hang out and visit in the family room, where there are plenty of toys for your younger child to play with as you look through all that is available in the library. We have two computers available for your use, and a copier for lesson plan material. This is also where you will find the mailboxes which will have reminders, finished projects, checked-out items, etc.

Once a month, there will be a Helping Hands meeting. Your involvement, while not mandatory, is much appreciated. This is when we will plan future field trips, classes, plays, and any other fun ways to help our children learn. If you have a great idea for a field trip, or any other ideas for teaching/learning, please come and share! This is also a great time to visit with other homeschooling parents. Sometimes it is nice just to know that someone else has gone through the same rough spot that you’re going through; or who better to share your child’s achievement or triumph with than someone who understands! We also have a Yahoo group, and a page on Facebook to keep everyone up to date.  We would like to empower you to help your child learn in ways that you only dreamed of before.  As you can see, we are nowhere without your creativity!

As Helping Hands officers we would like to do all we can to make this a great year for you and your child, but at the same time we are asking that you realize we are also homeschooling moms.  We look forward to this year and all that it has to offer!

Sharon Worlund, President
