Welcome to the Southgate Elementary School Web Page. We want this to be a tool that will allow you to know more about Southgate, find out what we are doing, and be able to access resources that will benefit your child as a learner and you as a parent. Southgate Elementary School celebrates its 25th year of excellence this year. We are proud of what we accomplish for children and the relationships that we have developed with families, both past and present.

While we are proud to be consistently in the upper tier of academic achievement in the Kennewick School District, our approach goes well beyond giving children a strong academic foundation. We also believe that reaching out to each child in a nurturing way helps them to develop lifelong learning skills that will help them to be successful in whatever they choose to do.

Reading is the backbone of our curriculum, but the other basics of mathematics, science, social studies and technology, thrive in our school as well. The Kennewick School District has been the fortunate recipient of a Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation Grant the last three years. The purpose of the grant has been increased student achievement. Through our work in examining our practices and curriculum we have increased the achievement levels of all students. The money we received has enabled us to increase the levels of software and hardware in our building and purchase new reading and math curriculums.

Southgate is a school where excellence is paramount. Our motto is: "WE ARE THE FUTURE." All we do is directed to making sure that children leave us ready to tackle whatever future lies before them. Thank you for being a part of our wonderful school community.
