Parent Teacher Orginization 2007-2008
The PTO is vital in keeping our kids excited about reading, science, physical well-being, and the importance of family. We need help on our teams this coming year. You don't have to donate a lot of time to make a HUGE impact on our students and teachers. Feel free to sign up with a friend! You can help in multiple areas. The areas we need new team members:
Assemblies
This team carefully chooses and executes a few fun and educational assemblies each school year. They work closely with the PTG board and principal and are given lots of resources to chose from!
Box Tops
This team helps promotes program awareness to parents then gathers and mails the box tops a couple times a year. This program has helped contribute several hundred dollars to our school with minimal promotion. Most time needed is twice a year for gathering/mailing.
Events
This team helps coordinate an 'thank you' dessert for the Safety Patrol at the end of the year as well as a couple other events. This team has the potential to help promote and plan even more events with minimal effort involved!
Family Fun Nights
This team helps coordinate and facilitate activities geared at the family on a monthly basis. Lots of room for creativity but not a prerequisite to join!
Fundraising
This team helps coordinate the Jog-a-thon and other exciting fundraiser's for the winter/spring. A couple meetings and help at the event is all that is needed!
Jog-A-Thon
This team helps promote this year's Jog-A-Thon in the spring- our big fundraiser of the year! Volunteers and promoting the event are vital for next year's events to be a success. We'll take any help with this!
Long-Term Funds Spending
This team looks at different opportunities to invest into our students and teachers. This entails a few meetings a year. (5hours total)
Open House
This team will help the evening of Open House with ticket sales, root beer floats, school spirit store, or other needed areas. This is a great opportunity to meet other parents and get to know the students a little better!
Secret Holiday Shop
Each holiday season our kids have an opportunity to budget and plan for their family members as they go shopping in the safety of the school. This team will help set up the holiday shop and help the students. Time requirement - one morning in November (date TBA)
School Spirit Store
This team will help sell fun items at the Open House and possibly at the school a couple times a month - the option is yours!
School Spirit T-Shirts
This team collects orders a few times a year for Southgate t's and sweatshirts, places the order w/the printer, then delivers to the students. Time invested is three times a year during order time.
SCRIP
Is a program trough which you can purchase gift certificates/gift cards that can be spent at many stores and resaurants. Your purchases help our school. because Southgate revcieves up to 25% or the amount you spend on the certificates from the vendors.
Staff Appreciation
Fun is a prerequisite! This team works within an allotted budget to help our teachers feel special! Opportunities consist of, but are not limited to: Teacher Conference dinners, birthdays, holidays, Staff Appreciation Week, etc. A great team can invest minimum time with maximum impact on our schools! Starts w/just one hour a week!
Volunteer
Great on the phone? We are looking for a team to call up the volunteers and place them with activities and other teams that match their interests and time allowances! This team can help from the comfort of their own homes for just a couple hours a month!
Remember, the PTO's greatest asset is YOU, the parent! We need you to make all these things possible.
Thanks for considering!
