Dramatic Iinterpretation
1. A memorized program that must be of a serious nature. The program may be one or more selections from published prose, poetry, drama, plays, radio, television, or recording. A monologue is permissible.
2. Props, make-up, and costumes are not permitted: expressions, gestures, body position, and upper body movement are allowed as means of characterization. Foot movement is limited to a one-step radius.
3. The titles and authors must be identified during the presentation.
4. Students may not present the same selection in Dramatic Interpretation and Humorous Interpretation or Dual Interpretation.
5. Time limit: Maximum of 8 minutes. If the speaker goes over a 30 second grace period that contestant may not be awarded first place in that round.
