Foot should be placed in 90 degrees of dorsal flexion

 

1.    Spray the Foot with an adhesive Spray ( Tuff-skin or QDA)

2.    Place Heel and Lace Pads on the ankle
a.     One pad across the lace area of the foot the other covers the Achilles tendon

       
               
 

3.    Pre-wrap the entire foot
a.     Pre-wrap should be only 2-3 layers thick and covers the entire foot.

                   
                                         
                                                       

4.    Apply 3 anchor strips
a.     Strips should contour to the Achilles and the anterior side of the leg
b.     Strips should start 3-4 inches above the Malleolus or at the base of the calf

 

5.    Apply 3-5 stirrups
a.     Strips should be applied from medial to lateral
b.     Strips should cover the malleolus and focus on covering the lateral and medial ankle ligaments
c.     Strips should push the foot into eversion

   
   
                                                     

6.    Re-anchor the stirrups
a.     Cover the top of the stirrups and the rest of the way down to the malleolus

                         
 
 

 

7.    Apply Horseshoes
a.     Strips should apply equal pressure
b.     Strips should cover from the malleolus to the plantar surface of the foot

                         
     
                           
                                 
 

8.   Apply Heel Locks

a.     Complete 3 sets of heel locks
b.     Start on the lateral side of the foot
  i.      Across the top of the foot
ii.     Behind the Achilles tendon
iii.  Down around the calcaneus
iv. Under the foot
v.      Up thru the arch
vi.    Across the top of the foot
vii. Behind the Achilles tendon
viiiDown around the calcaneus ix.   Under the foot
   x.   Up thru the arch

9.    Fill in weak spots
a.     Cover any spots in which the tape looks thin or you can see the pre-wrap

10.  Anchor the arch
a.     Pull the tape up thru the arch

Second Strip around arch
   
11.    Tap the foot to conform the tape around the heel and to let the athlete know you are done
