Southridge Track & Field Varsity
Lettering System
The coaches will consider each athlete for a varsity letter based on the following criteria, which are two-fold:
50% Performance
· Meeting standards for times and distances
· Scoring points in varsity competitions
· Personal records and improvement
· Inspirational performances (coaches discretion)
50% Choices of Champions
· Excellent attendance
· 100% effort at practice and at meets
· Positive Attitude towards coaches, training, techniques, teammates
· Positive choices whether on or off the field
· Maintains personal integrity, dignity, and respect for self and others
· Shows willingness to compete
· Demonstrates dedication to team and program
· Makes sacrifices for the team
· Helps in setting up, facilitating meets, and clean-up
· Demonstrates pride in program whether home or away
· Attends ALL phases of workout (warm-up, conditioning, plyometrics, technique training, video review, team meetings, weight training)
Attendance
1 – You must be at all practices and meets ON TIME!
2 - Absences must be pre-excused. Communicate with your event and head coaches.
3 - If you have a dental or medical appointment, notify your head coach in advance.
3 - Skipping practice will result in sitting out of the next meet.
4 - You must be at school if you wish to practice or compete.
5 - Appointments for personal grooming, such as hair, nail, tanning, body piercing, tattoos, etc., are not considered excused absences.
6 - If you are on a relay team and you miss hand-offs, you may be replaced, regardless of if the absence is excused or not. It is imperative that you are present for hand-offs.
