Practice and Schedule Regulations

PRACTICE:

  • Roll call: Monday- Wednesday (2:40 pm),

  • Tuesday-Thursday-Friday (5:40 pm),

  • Saturday-Vacations-Snow days (8:00 am).

  • Weigh in/out every day and record  
     weight on chart.

  • Be in wrestling room early: push ups, sit-ups, pull ups, stretch, drill technique and/or wrestle.

  • Clean shoes whenever entering room. Shower immediately after practice.

  • Do not leave practice room without permission from coach. 

  • Do not drill or wrestle without headgear.

  • Pay attention during instruction, be a student of the sport.

  •  We have the wrestling room until  5:30 on  early practices and no time  limit on late practice days. Practices will generally run 2 ½  hours, After conditioning there will be time for live wrestling, technique work, and individual/small group  instruction.

OVERNIGHT TRIPS/TOURNAMENTS:

  • No one is allowed in hotel rooms except other team members or family. Lights out by 10:00 p.m.

  •  We will travel together and stay together as a team.

  • Stay together in the stands and watch matches. Bring a sleeping bag and something healthy to eat.

  •  All wrestlers are expected to stay and watch the finals, unless it is an emergency.

  • To become a finalist you need to watch and learn what it takes to be one.

  •  Loss of overnight, bus, match and/or tournament privilege's for offenders.

MATCHES:

  • Home matches: Junior varsity report to scale at 4:30 to check weight. Varsity report at and 5:00 to check weight.

  • Junior varsity will set up mats and Varsity will tear down.

  • Watch what the good wrestlers are doing, it helps you develop your wrestling style.

  • Do not leave the wrestling area (team bench) without permission

  • Wear only the uniform issued; we will look like a team.

  • Show good sportsmanship and respect to your opponents, official, and fans. No hazing.

  • Everyone is required to jump rope for a specified time immediately following your match.

AWAY MATCHES:

  • Do not leave host schools gym area.

  • Respect other people and their property.

  • You must ride the bus to and from matches unless it’s an emergency.

  •  If you don’t want to ride the bus home, let us know, so we can place someone else in the lineup


BUS:

  • Follow all bus rules. Keep bus clean or we will all clean it.

  • Do not eat or drink on the way to a match.

Most of these rules are the result of state laws, wrestling rules book and school regulations but most of all you are representing Southridge wrestling. Remember the primary purpose of school is to get an education and unless you keep a 2.0 grade point average you will not be allowed to compete in matches.
