Under the Basic Education Act teachers are accountable for instituting good order and discipline in their classrooms. Good classroom management includes providing effective consequences for students who are tardy. Prompt arrival to class is a basic expectation for all students. Prompt arrival is also a basic workplace expectation. Accordingly, the demonstration of effective work habits, including punctuality, shall be a part of the learning process in every class at Southridge High School. Teachers are required to demonstrate effective tardy policies in their classrooms or to implement the following criteria which has been adopted to enhance acceptable school/work habits regarding punctuality.

Tardy 1 Oral Warning
Tardy 2 15 Minute Detention. Teacher/Parent Contact Required
Tardy 3+ After-School Service 2:15 - 3:00 P.M.

Those students who fail to complete the consequences for their tardies will receive in-school suspension until a parent contact has occurred to guarantee a completion date. Continued noncompliance with tardy policy consequences can result in out-of-school suspension.
