Sexual Harassment and Public Display of Affection - All individuals at Southridge High School are worthy of being treated with respect. When any person is subjected to unwelcome behavior or a comment that is sexual in nature it is considered "sexual harassment" and is inappropriate, harmful and against the law. Unwelcome sexual advances, requests for sexual favors, unnecessary physical contact, or explicit comments may constitute sexual harassment. It is the responsibility of every individual at Southridge High School to protect others students and staff from sexual harassment.


Search and Seizure
Student Rights - All students possess the constitutional right to be secure in their persons, papers, and effects against unreasonable searches and seizures. Lockers are utilized by students but remain the property of Southridge High School.
School Authority Rights - School authorities have the responsibility for the health and safety of all the students. Although not having unlimited entry or search powers, school authorities may do so to the extent that they have reasonable suspicion to believe that the intended object of the search is being used for some purpose inconsistent with school policies and/or regulations.


Due Process - Any student, parent, or guardian who is aggrieved by any disciplinary action or the imposition of a short-term suspension, long-term suspension, orexpulsion, shall have the right to an informal conference with the building principal or his/her designee for the purpose of resolving the grievance.

If the grievance is not resolved through the informal conference; the student, parent, or guardian may presenet a written grievance to the Director of High Schools.


Valuables - The District assumes no responsibility for loss of any student's personal property. Radios, walkmans, tape recorderes, cameras, and other distracting items are not to be brought to school. large sums of money and valuables should be left at home. Articles of value for class display should be checked into the office. Every locker, especially P.E. lockers, should be locked at all times. All articles found should be returned to or claimed from the main office.
