Dental Assisting
Students will learn oral anatomy, sterilization and disinfection, oral pathology, preventative, dentistry and radiography (x-ray). Other course objectives include chair-side procedures, impressions and study models, safety standards and able to, students have the opportunity to participate in observations and internships. Students must communicate well with others. The student needs to be able to work independently in a diverse environment and as a team member. Good manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination are required.
Other aids to success in this program are the ability to work under pressure, to change working situations hourly, to be able to think on your feet, to read/comprehend technical dental information, and to memorize dental terms and procedures including anatomy and physiology. Completion of this course provides a natural vehicle for prerequisite studies toward advanced training in dental hygiene.
