Register Now For KSD Online Learning Academy

Registration is now open for the KSD Online Learning Academy, a fully web-based education program for students in grades K-12.

The academy is for families who do not wish to have their children return to school for on-site, in-person learning in 2020-21. While all KSD students will begin the school year remotely – or online – because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the KSD Online Learning Academy will remain fully online even when the district is approved to move to in-person learning.

Families are encouraged to register for KSD Online Academy by Aug. 21. Registrations will continue to be accepted after that date, but we cannot guarantee a Sept. 1 start date for families registering after that date.

Update to families who signed up by Aug. 21 (Posted Aug. 26):

The Kennewick School District apologizes for the delay in communication regarding the KSD Online Learning Academy. The high volume of registrations for this program has caused longer than expected delays in completing the verification process with families, updating our student information system and in hiring staff to support this program. We remain committed to a Sept. 1 start for those that completed registration by Aug. 21. Once we have teachers assigned to the online academy and students assigned to teachers, more information will be coming about your student’s program and the first week of school by Aug. 31.

All students enrolled in the online academy will receive a device, a Chromebook for students in grades 3-12 and an iPad for students in K-2. Chromebook pick up for students in grades 3-12 is under way and arrangements should be made by families to pick one up at our district Administration Center, 1000 W. Fourth Ave., if you have not already had one assigned. Pick-up for grades K-2 will be scheduled to start after the 3-12 pick-up is complete, and those times will be shared with families at that time.

Once your child’s academic schedule is developed, information will be provided in regards to additional learning material pick-up and any supplies that may be needed. As this program is largely an online program, typical school supplies may not be necessary.

More information will be emailed as it is available. We appreciate and thank you for your patience during this challenging and unusual start to the school year.

The Kennewick School District apologizes for the delay in communication regarding the KSD Online Learning Academy. The high volume of registrations for this program has caused longer than expected delays in completing the verification process with families, updating our student information system and in hiring staff to support this program. You are receiving this email based on registering after the Aug. 21. At this time, we can confirm we received your registration; we are providing priority placement for families who registered by Aug. 21. While we are still working to place your student in the online academy, we recommend that you begin the school year in remote learning at your home school. Remote learning will be in place through September, and we will contact you in early September regarding placement in the online academy. We are working to complete the process of online academy success coach assignment and your child’s individual learning plan within the first two weeks of school, at which point, your child may transition to that program.

All KSD students in grades 3-12 will receive Chromebooks regardless of program. Chromebook pick-up is under way now at the district Administration Center, 1000 W. Fourth Ave. Please make arrangements to pick one up for you student(s) this week. K-2 students who participate in the online academy will receive iPads once they are enrolled in the program and assigned a success coach.
