Meet our National Merit Scholarship Semifinalist
Matthew Sakamoto, a senior at Southridge High School, is one of only about 16,000 students from around the country who qualified as a semifinalist in the prestigious National Merit Scholarship Program.
He has the chance to be awarded a National Merit Scholarship this spring. About 7,600 scholarships will be awarded in all based on academic excellence and other criteria, totaling more than $30 million.
Some other Kennewick students also were named National Merit Commended Scholars, including Nathan Bailey, Felix Jacob and Brandon Pattillo from Kamiakin High School and Ean Lovell and Lauren Leckelt from Kennewick High School.
Way to go, all!
