Kennewick Educator Named Regional Teacher of the Year

Congratulations to Chenoa Meagher from Sage Crest Elementary School on being recognized as the 2020 Washington State Regional Teacher of the Year for Educational Service District 123.

Meagher is an instructional leader who makes her kindergarten classroom a fun place to be. She’s known at Sage Crest as the “Minion Teacher” because of her room's many Minion decorations.

She's also known for her creativity – sometimes wearing costumes to liven up lessons and dreaming up characters like Even Steven and Odd Todd to help teach math concepts.

“She creates effective and engaging lessons and promotes activities that support intellectual development, while preparing students for the social challenges of kindergarten and so much more,” said Sage Crest Principal Natalie McKay.

Meagher was chosen as the 2020 Crystal Apple Award winner from the Kennewick School District and was recognized for excellence alongside educators from other school districts within ESD 123

She’ll now be considered, along with finalists from the state's eight other ESDs, for 2021 Washington State Teacher of the Year.
