Instructions

1. Sign in to PowerSchool
    

2. Select Lunch Balance on the left
    

3. Click on the orange button that says Add Lunch Money on the right. You will be directed to the eFunds page
    
4. Now, click on Fund Lunch on the top of the page and choose one of the account options
    
5. Enter your student’s last name and student number in the designated textboxes and click on Add Students. If you do not know your student’s number, go back to PowerSchool and click on student barcode. Your student’s number is listed beneath the barcode label.
    
6. Finally, click on your student and enter the amount of money you would like to add to their account and add it to your cart. When you are done, click on Begin Checkout and follow the payment instructions on the page

Summer Meal Menu

Food Allergies and Substitutions

Kennewick School District supports access to healthy meals to all children, including children with disabilities who have special dietary needs.  Disability is defined as an impairment that substantially limits a major life activity.  This can include allergies and digestive conditions.  However, it does not include personal diet preferences.  The procedure below has been developed to address these priorities.

Upon enrollment in Kennewick School District, health history information is gathered in Power School.  Concerns about allergies and sensitivities are addressed with the school nurse.   Dietary accommodations are reviewed by the school nurse and routed as follows:

•    Parent
•    Student health file
•    504 case file (counselor)
•    Nutrition Services office
•    School Cook

As Nutrition Services becomes aware a meal modification is needed, Nutrition Services will not unduly delay providing the modification while awaiting the medical statement.  Instead, Nutrition Services will begin providing a reasonable modification to keep the child safe, and request the family provide a medical statement signed by a State Recognized Medical Authority to support the meal modification as soon as possible. Once accommodations have started, parents/guardian will be given 45 days to return the signed Request for Special Dietary Accommodation form to the Nutrition Services Department.  Date of approval will be noted on the applicable form(s).

 For your clarification, below are rules KSD follows to be compliant with state and federal regulation.

Children with a Disability:

According to state regulation, districts are required to provide reasonable accommodations for children who are considered to have a disability     

  Disability is defined by:

• Section 504 of Rehabilitation Act
• American Disabilities Act
•  Individuals with Disabilities Education Act
• The request for substitution must be made on the attached form.
•  It must include the signature of a State recognized medical authority*

*State recognized medical authority: State licensed health care professionals authorized to write medical prescriptions under State law

•  Doctor of Osteopathy (DO)
•  Physician’s Assistant (PA) with prescriptive authority

  The request for dietary accommodation must include:

• Food(s) to be omitted/avoided from the child’s diet.
• How the ingestion of the food impacts the child.
• Food(s) to be substituted.
• Recommended substitutions for the food(s) to be omitted.

Nutrition Services will work with school nurse, parents/guardians, and medical authority on any clarification/verification on substitutions.

Copies of dietary prescriptions will be kept with the school nurse, kitchen, and Nutrition Services office.
