Health & Safety

Face Coverings/Masks

All school staff, volunteers, visitors, and students must wear cloth face coverings, or an acceptable alternative (e.g., surgical mask or clear face shield with a drape), at school when indoors in accordance with the Secretary of Health’s Mask Order and on school buses in accordance with the CDC's order

The face covering/mask requirements includes families picking up and dropping off at YMCA childcare sites inside the school.

Students may remove masks while eating and drinking. If a student does not have a mask when they arrive at school, one will be provided them.

There is no requirement to wear a mask while outside on school campuses, regardless of vaccination status.

Mask Exemptions

If your student meets the face covering/mask exemption criteria as defined by the Secretary of Health’s Mask Order, families should contact their school’s principal to request a mask exemption form. Completed forms will be reviewed the school nurse and appropriate school personnel. Families will be notified if the student is approved for exemption.

If You Want to Switch Schools Within KSD
To transfer from one school to another within the Kennewick School District, families must fill out a Transfer Request Form. Parents will be notified of acceptance or denial from the school they are applying to.

If You Live Outside KSD and Want to Transfer to a KSD School
Transfers involving another district are granted if the other district approves the transfer and it does not adversely affect either district or their programs. The first step is to go to your resident boundary school and complete the transfer paperwork. Families will be notified by the school they are applying to whether the transfer is denied or accepted.

If You Live in KSD and Want to Transfer to Another District or Out-of-District Online School
