Meals

Every Kennewick School District student is eligible to receive free breakfast and lunch for the 2022-23 school year due to recent changes made to the federally-funded program called the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP). Previously, individual schools were determined to be eligible through their free and reduced-price meal percentage. This year, the entire district is qualified based on the overall percentage.

Although there is no application for free meals, the district does send out the Family Income Survey. This form is sent to many of our families in the fall and collects household income information so that Kennewick School District is eligible to receive state funding for important educational programs that our students are entitled to. If your family receives this form, we encourage you to fill it out and return it as soon as possible.

Please note that the Community Eligibility Program allows for one complete meal for each student. This means that if a student brings their lunch from home and wants milk or a second breakfast or lunch, the student’s account will be charged according to the 2022-23 a la carte pricing.

Kennewick School District is excited to offer no-cost meals to all students and appreciates your help.

Visit our Nutrition Services page for more on school meals.

Internet Access

Many of the discounted internet service programs offered during the pandemic will be phased out soon. Applications are now being accepted for the Affordable Connectivity Program, a Federal Communications Commission (FCC) program that provides a temporary discount on monthly broadband bills for qualifying low-income households. Families are encouraged to apply as soon as possible:

Local families who need assistance signing up for this program may visit any Mid-Columbia Libraries branch, call (509) 222-6615 or visit https://www.fcc.gov/acp.

School Transfers

Transfers from within or outside the Kennewick School District are subject to building and program space availability and a student's academic and disciplinary standing. Transportation is not provided to students who transfer to a school outside their attendance boundary.

If You Want to Switch Schools Within KSD
To transfer from one school to another within the Kennewick School District, families must fill out a Transfer Request Form. Parents will be notified of acceptance or denial from the school they are applying to.

If You Live Outside KSD and Want to Transfer to a KSD School
Transfers involving another district are granted if the other district approves the transfer and it does not adversely affect either district or their programs. The first step is to go to your resident boundary school and complete the transfer paperwork. Families will be notified by the school they are applying to whether the transfer is denied or accepted.

If You Live in KSD and Want to Transfer to Another District or Out-of-District Online School
To transfer out of the Kennewick School District, families must fill out the Choice Transfer Request Form. If your student is transferring to a non-KSD online school, families must also fill out the MOU Transfer to an Online School (Non-KSD Online School)
