Inspiring Young Artists at Hawthorne Elementary

Hawthorne students smiles while holding drawing

Look at these talented young artists!

Fifth-graders at Hawthorne Elementary School got to try their hands at drawing during an art workshop with artist-illustrator Bethany Barton.
Barton is the author of books such as "Give Bees a Chance" and "I'm Trying to Love Spiders." She also works in the TV and film industry in art, prop and set decoration.

She talked with students about artists who've inspired her and how she creates her own illustrations. She also brought art supplies so students could make their own drawings!

Barton and author-illustrator Kevin O’Malley are in town this week, speaking at assemblies and holding workshops for elementary and middle school students.
