Kennewick High Artist Shares Talents

National Hispanic Heritage Month Bulletin Board at Eastgate Elementary

Check out this amazing bulletin board at Eastgate Elementary School!

It was created by Vanessa Garcia in honor of National Hispanic Heritage Month, which wraps up Oct. 15. Vanessa is a freshman at Kennewick High School and a talented visual artist. Her mother, Rosalinda Garcia Rodriguez, teaches kindergarten at Eastgate.

Mrs. Garcia Rodriguez asked her daughter to help with a bulletin board to celebrate the special month, and Vanessa knocked it out of the park.

"I used this as an opportunity to be creative and use my artistic skills to make something that represents my culture, which is Mexican culture. I also included other Hispanic countries in the dress," she said.

She hopes other young people are inspired to take pride in their heritage and use art as a way to express their feelings and make a positive impact.

Mrs. Garcia Rodriguez said she's proud of Vanessa and her bulletin board creation. "I love it. I was super impressed," she said. "She brought it to life."
