Why do dogs wag their tails? How deep is the ocean? How do earthquakes happen? Where can you find whales in the desert?

Kennewick School District students in kindergarten through fifth grade are exploring those kinds of questions – and many others – thanks to a $50,000 grant from the Washington State STEM Education Foundation.

The one-year grant is covering the cost of Mystery Science, a hands-on science curriculum that supports learning in English and Spanish.

The grant is also covering supplies and professional development for 55 teachers to bring the lessons to life in their classrooms.
