Transition to Kindergarten
Transition to Kindergarten (TK) is a legislatively established and authorized program for children who are at least 4-years-old by August 31 and have been identified through a screening process to be in need of additional preparation to be successful kindergarten students in the following school year.
Overview
- Free, full-day program at Amistad and Washington elementary schools
- Schedule is Monday, October to June
- Serve up to 20 students in each classroom
- Free bus transportation
- Serve free breakfast and lunch
- The Washington Kindergarten Inventory of Developing Skills (WaKIDS) will be administered at the beginning of the program as well as one other time during the school year
- Kennewick School District's Transition to Kindergarten program is implemented and administered, in accordance with RCW 28A.300.072
