Transfer Requests

Transfer Requests

All students in Kennewick School District are assigned to their boundary school based on home address. If your boundary school isn’t the best fit for your student, you may request a transfer to another school. Transfer decisions are approved or denied on current enrollment and program availability.

View the information below for directions and forms related to transfer requests.

  • Kennewick School District assigns students to neighborhood schools based on Board-approved boundaries and a student’s legal residence. Families may request an in-district transfer to another school, depending on space and available programs.

Step 1: Determine Your School Boundary

    Search School Boundaries By Address

Step 2: Submit Your Transfer Request

  • The district may also consider out-of-district transfer requests, but only after in-district requests are processed. Acceptance of out-of-district students is not guaranteed.

    Out-of-District (Choice) Transfer Request

  • The Kennewick School District allows students in kindergarten to 5th grade to transfer to a school served by their daycare provider’s address if it falls outside the student's attendance area. To request this transfer, complete the daycare provider verification form, which is an annual requirement. This does not apply for secondary-age students (students in 6th-12th grade).

  • If you live within the district and want to provide home-based instruction (homeschool) for your student that is not part of Mid-Columbia Partnership home-based instruction program, fill out the Declaration of Intent to Provide Home-Based Instruction Form and return it to the KSD Administration Center at 1000 W. 4th Ave., Kennewick. If you are interested in learning more about the Mid-Columbia Partnership home-based instruction, please contact the school directly at (509) 222-5036.
